Professional Kaizen

Failure is Our Goal
Okay – not exactly.  Since our Kaizen teams use the scientific method to learn & achieve perfection, we model, simulate and test profusely.  The best Kaizen teams spend ideas – not capital ($) funds and the driving reason is time, not money.

Fail fast – fail cheap – fail often and most importantly fail forward

When capital funds are required to make changes the team must wait and we greatly slow the rate of change in the organization.  The customers needs, however, continue to change every day so our businesses must be flexible & agile and adopt the mentality of failure as seen in this context.

The Best Way to Predict the Future?  Create It!
If your lead times are too long – and mistakes and continued training deficiencies plague your process then allow us to lead a Kaizen (or series) event.  You’ll quickly see the difference between a ‘professional’ event and others that you may have been a part of.  Here are some things you’ll experience:

  • Preparation:
    • Kaizen events are won/lost before the event ever occurs and using our checklists & approaches you’ll find that we describe the process problems (opportunities) in extensive depth prior to the event.  ”A problem that is well described is a problem that is half solved” and you’ll routinely see us spend 30 – 50 hours (and more) prior to the actual event in preparation.  Obviously we’ll need your internal leaders and subject-matter-experts (SME’s) for this prep work.
  • Execution:
    • Many partially reached objectives in a Kaizen event is a recipe for a slow and painful ‘death’ of an event.  Prior to the event we ‘aggressively deselect’ items from the agenda and make sure that the charter has 2 – 3 primary objectives.  Experience in Kaizen allows us to properly scope events in the prep phase which allows your team to deliver in the execution phase.
    • Part of any good successful Kaizen event is fun.  Central to the adult learning model is challenging teams with fun & dynamic simulations and exercises.
  • Follow-up and sustainment:
    • Since learning is a core focus of TGG – sustainment is really a reflection of whether individuals and groups have learned and come to consensus on the selected solution(s).
