| Fun. Interactive. Challenging. Stimulating. These are all different types of descriptions our students use to describe our 2D course. TGG uses many different learning simulations (e.g. – the more we talk, the less you learn) and require you to interact with classmates in team roles. Our goal is to teach only what you need to know and therefore we’ll adjust / adapt our course to fit your industry. |
| What You Will Learn |
Don’t blame Joe
Most things in the universe resemble a process. Step 1, step 2, and step 3 that yield an output. Completing a loan application, resolving an IT help ticket, a visit to a grocery store or registering for a TGG class (OK, that pitch was a little low). These processes have variables & inputs we can measure and/or control which allows us to predict the outcomes that we want! So which process parameters should we focus on? Now that’s a great question and much better than ‘blaming Joe.’
Use tools -> see wastes -> creating flow
So how do we dismantle (in order to better understand) this process? Directionally speaking we use a lot of tools within P-D-C-A cycles. There are a long list of tools (see our glossary) but all of them do one thing. What’s that? Reveal waste! Waste can come in the form of non-value added activities and/or process variation but we use an acronym called WORMPIIT. After we’ve used the tools and uncovered the wastes, we want to establish new processes and procedures that allow us to flow products & services to our customers as they request them. Use the tools so that we can see the wastes … to create flow.
Does the Higgs particle exist?
Actually we may leave questions about the Swiss Hadron Collider to the RCFA class, but one type of flow that we will discuss is that between people. It’s a process – OK, got it. We use tools & PDCA for improvement (easier, better, faster, safer). Check. Third item? People. All of the changes that are made to improve process involve people and part of our fundamental discussion of Lean is change management. Q x A = E. The quality of the change * the acceptance of the change = the effectiveness of the change. We’ll learn in our course many techniques to ensure that acceptance occurs during the improvement cycle and how to successfully navigate good change.
