There are many books written about a “Lean Office” – what does that mean? Our (4) day course will introduce you to leading edge approaches that produce rapid results.You cannot improve what you cannot measure. Transactional process improvement, until now, has produced lack-luster results specifically because no simple method to measure & quantify improvement has existed.Here are three things that our approach can eliminate: • That’s not how I do it (read: my way is better) • It depends (in response to ‘how long does that take’) • Hidden factories of waste • Redundant or needless transactions • (Tremendous) variation between computer users We’ll show you how to count, measure, and eliminate wasteful window changes, process steps, & excessive processing in order to determine & communicate the ‘best way’ for any transactional process. More information If you were challenged to describe any process you’d likely do one of two things: 1) explain how you think the process works, 2) explain how you wish the process works, but it’s extremely unlikely that you’d explain how the process actually works. That’s where Genba comes in and it’s defined: “the actual place” or “the real place.” Morae software allows us to go to the Genba and record the computer screen, keyboard, and user and begin breaking down the process using teams of observers. The software efficiently allows SME (subject matter experts) team participants to then log a) task markers, and b) improvement markers. In the past, transactional processes were mapped with ‘brown paper’ and ‘post-it notes’ – Morae is long overdue! LeanPC is often asked – what types of processes (call centers, accounting, etc.) does this work best for; but it’s really asking the wrong question. The right question? How much time do your employees spend on their PC’s every day. As you begin observing the real work place you can find infinite areas where your employees can be more productive.
What You Will Learn
How to Measure a transactional process TGG uses a patent pending approach to measure the ‘distance’ of any process. We work with your team to determine what items should be filtered for (and counted) to measure a transactional distance. <enter>, <tab>, right mouse click, and many others are selected based upon your custom application. From there the team is given a very simple challenge. Let’s cut this process distance by 50%. Generally speaking the time is usually halved as well. And they do it. From making very minor training improvements to screen & configuration setting changes to major software changes – once the measurement is completed the team’s solution set is nearly endless. Since you now have a measurement in place (Morae also collects time-stamp information as well) then you can also use this entitlement to benchmark other like-processes. East coast to west coast – division to division and others. How to use Morae From markers, to tasks to command distance we’ll show you how to use the software so that you can make application in your own processes. The course centers around TGG’s transactional HeliSIM back-office process so that the class participants can use a live-PC based simulation. We’ll offer the challenge that when you compare TGG’s transactional office course to anyone on the market you’ll get the same conclusion: no comparison. Using Morae for standard work & process mapping What are two primary outputs of a transactional continuous improvement project? First Morae is used for extensive process mapping. These events allow teams to understand the overall system and determine where the gaps are to produce savings. Second, Morae is used for standard work exercises so that the ‘best way’ is clearly documented and then deployed (i.e. – practiced) by the entire user population.
